ROBBY COX & THE RECKONING

ROBBY COX

Hailing from the rural outskirts of Louisville, KY, Robby Cox is no diamond in the rough when it comes to being considered one of Kentucky's musical gems and among the area's most popular local musicians to book for an event.

Renowned for his on-stage energy and powerful vocal range, from soulful smooth to a raspy roar, Robby's been wooing and wowing audiences for more than two decades with his indelible one-man shows.

Also a gifted guitarist and talented harmonica player, Robby brings a blend of Americana, country, classic rock and blues to his stage performances, calling on an extensive playlist, nailing covers by Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix, Willie Nelson, Nirvana, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, to name a few, plus his notable and most requested renditions of Johnny Cash.

His 2017 self-titled CD, Robby Cox, contains 11 original songs, including several romantic ballads, and features musicians from his back up band, The Reckoning.

THE RECKONING

Joining Robby in the studio and for many of his hired performances are bassist and vocalist Marcus Brothwell and drummer Will Carlton, the duo that make up The Reckoning.

The band provides tight accompaniment and added verve to fuel Robby's energy, allowing him to kick up the heat and expand his repertoire for a more over the top performance.

Marcus Brothwell, originally from Melbourne, Australia, now locates out of Frankfort, KY and is not only bassist and vocalist with The Reckoning, he's also a member of Joey and The Cruisers, a popular 8-member events band that books gigs in and around Lexington, KY.

Drummer Will Carlton comes from a musical family and grew up in Nashville, TN before settling in Frankfort, KY. Will is also a member of Joey and The Cruisers and has been a band mate with Marcus for over a decade. As The Reckoning, the pair have been performing with Robby since 2014.

During the spring and summer of 2020, Robby Cox performed almost weekly for a free live stream concert series to support non-profit organizations in and around Louisville, joined several times by The Reckoning.

Soul Candy

SOUL CANDY

A thousand words

Can never say

Everything I wanna' say

To you love

And every little thing

That I feel

You know now that it's real

For you love

Cause you're everything

To me

Everything

I'll ever need

My soul candy

A thousand stars

In the sky

Sparkle like your eyes

You're beautiful, love

And, oh, I'd love to stare

Deep into you

See the things I'd love to do

For you love

And I can see it in your eyes

So, let your passion rise

And fall down onto me

Cause you're everything to me

Everything I'll ever need

My soul candy

Best Damn Thing

BEST DAMN THING

You came and gave me

A dose of reality

Brought me back from

A broken mentality

Had to change my lifestyle

Got tired of livin' wild

Tryin' to fill that emptiness

I was blind to all these years

You're like cinnamon in my coffee

Girl, so bittersweet

Cannabis in your eyes

Deep purple and green

You're headline news

That I'd love to read

And everything

I didn't think I need

But the best damn thing

That's ever happened to me

I put the bottle down

Threw them pills away

And Lord, I swear,

I'll never touch no more cocaine

Now I got you

And your love

And a little bit of help

From the Old Man above

You're like cinnamon in my coffee, Girl, so bittersweet

Cannabis in your eyes

Deep purple and green

You're headline news

That I'd love to read

And everything

I didn't think I need

But the best damn thing

That's ever happened to me

Cinnamon in my coffee

Girl, so bittersweet

Cannabis in your eyes

Deep purple and green

You're headline news

That I'd love to read

And everything

I didn't think I need

'Bout the best damn thing

That's ever happened to me
